Matthew has always worked with and around cameras. A film studies graduate he started working with motion picture cameras in the TV and film industry. He later returned to his interest in stills photography, working as an assistant to a portrait photographer in London. For the last six years he has been working as a professional photographer in his own right. Matthew still works a lot in London but is based in The New Forest in Hampshire between Bournemouth and Southampton where he grew up.

After graduating, Gemma started her career in marketing and PR. She has extensive experience in websites and design including commissioning and directing photographic shoots. In 2004 Gemma and Matthew joined forces to form AltoBasso Photography, and since then they have been combining their individual skills to provide a complete professional and creative photography service. Gemma grew up in North London but is now based in The New Forest in Hampshire.
